Karen A Cortez, Cardiac procedure tech

Karen is currently working as a cardiac procedure tech at Advocate Aurora St. Luke’s Hospital. This means that she preps patients for procedures that they have scheduled. She gets their blood draws, puts their iv’s in, reads telemetry and pulls sheaths out if they get a stent placed in their heart.

She said in response to recent life milestones, “I have been doing a bit of traveling, I just recently got to go to Nashville and hopefully Mexico next year. Mainly a lot of working.”

The DDM lab impacted her journey by opening her views in research in other departments.
